CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) Attention Staff and Visitors to Residential Aged Care homes

If you are visiting from an identified coronavirus hotspot you are advised to cancel your plans.

Whilst we don’t currently have any active cases within our local government area, we are receiving advice daily from NSW Public Health regarding the increased amount of Local government areas within NSW that are to be included in restrictions from Aged Care facilities.

As the elderly community is one of the vulnerable groups that are at most risk of serious infection by COVID-19, we are writing to all Residents and their families to be vigilant and to help prevent the spread of the virus by supporting the measures we are taking to protect our residents.

The following measures will be implemented from 25th September, 2020, and remain in place until further notice.

1.  Visiting hours will be between;   9:00am – 3:00pm Monday to Friday, and

                                                               9:00am - 12:00 noon Saturday and Sunday

2.  It is essential for visitors to contact the Clinical Support Officer, to book in a time for a scheduled visit. The contact details for each facility are Cameron Street 6585-2811 or Johnstone Street 6586-9901.

3.  We ask that if you do want to schedule a visit over the weekend you contact our Clinical Support Officers during business hours Monday to Friday, to ensure that we have staff available to schedule you an appointment time, and our RN and care staff are not taken away from clinical duties to schedule appointments.

4.  Visitors who do not pre-schedule an appointment will not be permitted to enter the facility and will be asked by the CSO or RN to schedule a time for this visit to take place.

5.  Each resident can have 2 visitors at any one time, there will be no restrictions on how long a visitor can stay. All visits are still to occur in the resident's rooms or a designated place outside with social distancing measures maintained.

6.  Children Under 16 are permitted to visit, however will be included in 2 visitor restrictions, and must have a flu vaccination.

7.  The screening will still occur at the entrance to the facility, your temperature will be taken, you will still be required to complete our screening questionnaire and you will need a copy of your completed flu vaccination

8.  As has already been communicated, any Residents entering the end of life phase will have visiting rights outside of the above hours, however, the screening process will remain the same. The Clinical Support Officers will direct all calls relating to visitation outside these hours to the Residential Care Manager.

9.  We request the following from all Visitors attending our Residential Aged Care facilities for scheduled visits:

    a.  Please do not visit when unwell or displaying any signs of a cold/flu, respiratory or COVID-19 symptoms.

    b.  To respond truthfully to COVID-19 screening questions asked by the care home’s staff.

    c.  To treat all staff with respect and courtesy, and to follow their instructions.

    d.  Contact the home before visiting, to secure a mutually convenient time.
